Carol Hagler
Carol Hagler joined the California Building Standards Commission (CBSC) in July 2021. Her main duties will focus on website management, including general website updates, organization and performance. She also works on accessibility compliance and remediation for the copious public-facing documents emerging from the commission’s rulemaking processes. Her analysis duties will include participating in the legislative efforts that impact California’s building standards, as well as the building standards development process.
Prior to joining the state in this position, Carol’s career was in software development. She worked in an assortment of entities in central Texas and in Silicon Valley ranging from the largest public university in the country to a successful startup, and on platforms that included everything from mainframes to iOS apps.
Carol earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Baylor University’s Neuroscience department (Sic ‘Em, Bears!). She and her wife have two grown sons and two decidedly immature dogs. Favorite activities during her off hours include smoking barbecue, cooking, baking, board games with good friends, choral music, and all things Dachshund. Her next interest is in developing some woodworking skills.
