DGS Director Daniel C. Kim thanked employees today for our department’s role in preserving and protecting our environment.

“As Californians we are fortunate to reside in a state that is home to an awe-inspiring and diverse environment. Places such as Yosemite, Muir Woods, Lake Tahoe and Mt. Whitney conjure majestic images of natural wonders. Spanning from the Mexican border on up to Oregon, and from the Pacific Ocean going eastward into the Sierras, our state contains spectacular forests, lakes, wetlands, beaches and more – all of which require our vigilant protection,” Kim said. “Nearly every division within DGS has a part to play in implementing the governor’s green initiatives, and Earth Day seemed an appropriate time to recap what we’ve done over the past year.”

But those accomplishments are just the beginning. Each DGS employee is working hard every day to advance the fight to protect the environment and our natural world. We can take pride in the fact that state government is acting to improve our environment, not only on Earth Day, but every day.
