The Employment Development Department vacated three old buildings, and the site was determined to be suitable for housing. The large, ± 1.46 acres will provide opportunities for open space and housing.

Project Milestones

The Related Companies of California and the Weingart Center Association will develop the site. The housing units will be income restricted with Average Median Income limits as follows:

Phase I (Family Units) 

  • 105 units (one, two and three bedroom units)
  • 20% - 60% AMI

Phase II (Senior units)

  • 100 units (one and two-bedroom units)
  • 20% - 60% AMI

Phase III (Permanent Supporting Housing units)

  • 98 units (all one bedroom units)
  • 20% - 40% AMI

The environmental review process is complete. A Notice of Exemption was filed: on December 14, 2022, with the State Clearinghouse, No. 2022120328
