Enroll in Basic Safety Training
State department safety coordinators and personnel must take Basic Safety Training within one year of appointment. The training is also available to safety officers and coordinators of other public entities on a space-available basis.
About This Service
Basic Safety Training is a five-day course designed to provide a firm technical background in safety. Some of the topics covered include:- Introduction to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
- General Safety & Health
- Injury Illness Prevention Program
- Ergonomics Program Management
- Occupational Safety & Inspection Techniques
- Reporting Occupational Injury & Illness
The course is free of charge to state agencies.
Course enrollments are now submitted via DGS' Learning Management System, Pathways.
If you have an existing account for DGS' Training and Registration System (TRS), please do not create a new account in Pathways as those profiles have been transferred from TRS to Pathways. Previous TRS users will need to reset their password to access Pathways.
