About Administrative Procedure Act (APA) Case Types
We provide impartial hearings, mediations, and alternative dispute resolution services to State and local governmental entities governed by the Administrative Procedure Act (APA) and other statutes and regulations within the General Jurisdiction Division.
The General Jurisdiction Division conducts hearings to resolve disputes when a disagreement exists concerning an action taken by a government agency against an individual or business. These hearings involve serious matters, which often weigh the need for public safety and protection against the ability of someone to practice a chosen profession or occupation and are generally governed by the APA. Under this case type we also conduct hearings initiated by agencies such as educational, cities and counties. These hearings are governed by the agency's statutes and/or regulatory authority.
Currently, over 1,600 State and local government agencies turn to the Office of Administrative Hearings’ General Jurisdiction Division to conduct hearings and provide alternate dispute resolution services in an unbiased, professional, and cost-effective manner.
APA hearings are to ensure that all parties are accorded due process of law during their hearing.
