Enroll in Statewide Travel Program
State and local government agencies including cities, counties, special districts, universities, community colleges, and K-12 school districts can benefit from lower travel costs by enrolling in the Statewide Travel Program.
By taking advantage of the state’s purchasing power and competitively bid contracts, government agencies can gain access to some of the most cost-effective rates and fares for business travel.
ABOUT THE STATEWIDE TRAVEL PROGRAM
The Department of General Services (DGS) Statewide Travel Program provides full travel management services for all Executive Branch state agencies and offers its consolidated services and leveraged discounts to local governments, universities, community colleges, K-12 school districts and special districts within California. The program procures and manages airline reservations, commercial car rentals, travel payment services, travel management services, lodging, disaster response, and transportation network services for use by over 450,000 government employees.
Since its inception in 2009, the Statewide Travel Program has strategically grown to the caliber of a Fortune 500 travel program and represents the benchmark by which other state governments and private sector companies seek to model. By consolidating the state’s managed travel services to a single contracted travel agency and leveraging the state’s purchasing power to secure advantageously negotiated contracts, the Statewide Travel Program now saves the state millions annually in travel service expenditures, and this number continues to grow.
There is no cost or minimum travel volume required to join the program. Qualifying state and local government agencies pay transaction/service fees based on usage.
