Department of Technology Approval of IT Activities - 1003

Policy

Government Code, Section 11545 establishes the Department of Technology (CDT) and gives CDT general authority over the strategic management and direction of the state’s information technology resources. State Administrative Manual (SAM), Sections 4800 - 5180 constitutes these powers and defines the procedures for obtaining CDT’s approval of proposed information technology expenditures.

All departments must obtain IT project approval as specified in CDT policy BEFORE initiating any IT procurement activity or encumbering any funds.
