Revised IR 18-3: Foundation Analysis and Design Forces: 2022 CBC

The Division of the State Architect (DSA) has revised Interpretation of Regulations (IR) 18-3: Foundation Analysis and Design Forces: 2022 CBC, which may be found on the DSA Publication webpage.

The revisions include Section 2.2.5 that has been added to address design and detailing requirements for grade beams that are subject to flexure from columns that are part of the seismic force-resisting system. In addition, Section 4.3.5 has been removed regarding additional drift requirements when rocking of shallow foundations is permitted.
