DSA PSCC Member, David Secoda
As a member of PSCC, Mr. Secoda serves as a Fire and Life Safety Representative.
David Secoda has 25 years of experience in the fire protection engineering industry. He is currently a Senior Consultant with Jensen Hughes. He is responsible for the preparation and review of fire alarm system design drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates, and bid documents. He analyzes, inspects, tests, and commissions fire alarm systems and performs technical surveys.
Mr. Secoda’s fire and life safety project experience includes educational occupancies, detention and correctional facilities, hospitals and medical centers, hospitality, office, residential, and mixed-use buildings.
Mr. Secoda’s public school experience includes fire alarm design and construction administration for new K–12 school buildings, comprehensive modernizations, stand-alone fire alarm replacement projects and close-out of legacy projects closed without DSA certification.
His practical knowledge of fire alarm systems covers battery and voltage drop calculations, occupant notification appliances, fire detection devices and the control units of various manufacturers. He is well-versed in the applicable codes for these systems, such as NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code), the California Building Code, and the California Fire Code.
Prior to Jensen Hughes, Mr. Secoda was a fire alarm system designer with Bay Alarm Company where he supervised subcontractors, analyzed outdated and faulty systems, coordinated with authorities having jurisdiction, provided technical training, and developed fire alarm drawings using AutoCAD.
Mr. Secoda holds a certificate in fire protection from the University of California, Davis and a Level III NICET certification in fire alarm systems. He is a member of the California Automatic Fire Alarm Association (CAFAA), the Northern California Fire Protection Officers Association (NorCal FPO) Association, the Coalition for Adequate School Housing (CASH) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
